If you have a toothache, it’s possible that one of the solutions we will suggest is Endodontic therapy (commonly known as Root Canal). In the center of the tooth is the tooth nerve, and many toothaches are the result of the nerve being inflamed or injured. The injury can be from a cavity that gets close to the nerve, a previous restoration close to the nerve, or some external trauma to the tooth. In Endodontic Therapy, the space where the nerve is, is cleaned out and disinfected, and then packed with a biocompatible antimicrobial material to help prevent reinfection. We provide most Endodontic therapy in our office, although in certain situations we may refer you to an Endodontist for your treatment.
Most teeth that require Endodontic therapy should have a protective crown restoration done following that treatment to prevent the tooth from fracturing.
